Neil Cunningham Dobson

Neil’s 49-year career spans being a Merchant Navy Deck Officer, a Stability Officer on oil rigs, an offshore survival instructor, a commercial diver and ROV pilot. After completing a master’s degree in marine archaeology, he then became part of the team at Odyssey Marine Exploration working with Mark. As a deep -water marine archaeologist Neil has worked on scores of shipwrecks in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea on many high-profile projects such as the SS Republic, “Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes (Black Swan)”, HMS Victory, RMS Lusitania, SS Gairsoppa and the SS Central America. Neil is gifted with the unique ability to make science, history, and archaeology understandable, interesting, and fun. His shipwrecks and discoveries attract world-wide attention and are the subject of many newspaper and magazine articles and TV documentaries.
